Torah Sisters Meetups

Are there women near me who keep Torah?

That is the question I have been asked more than any other. Torah Sisters Meetups are the answer: casual, local get-togethers hosted by women like you so likeminded Sisters can finally find each other.

Not a church. Not a formal Sabbath fellowship. Just women, conversation, and friendship.

Find a meetup near you

Zoom in to your area and click a pin. Each pin shows the hostess’s name, her city, who her group is for, and how to reach her. Pin locations are somewhat vague on purpose. She will tell you exactly where and when her group meets once you say reach out and introduce yourself.

Please read before you go. Meetups are independent gatherings hosted by volunteer women. Torah Sisters LLC lists them as a courtesy but does not organize, supervise or insure them, does not run background checks, and is not responsible for what happens at them. Use the same good sense and safety cautions you would when meeting anyone new. By attending, you accept that you do so at your own risk and release Torah Sisters LLC and its owners from any related claims.

Questions & answers

Meetups FAQ

Please actually read these so you know what to expect. If your question is not here, write to me.

What exactly is a Torah Sisters Meetup?

A casual, local get-together of women who love Yeshua and keep the whole Bible. A hostess picks a place and a time, other Sisters show up, and everyone gets to meet likeminded women who live nearby. Think coffee and conversation, not a service.

Is it a church or a formal fellowship?

No. Sabbath fellowships are wonderful and necessary, but they are a bigger commitment, and within the Torah community there are many differing views. Torah Sisters Meetups are meant to be lighter and more fun while still being meaningful. The hostess is a facilitator, not a pastor — she simply opens the door. Some groups may enjoy a short Bible study or discussion, but the point is to meet each other.

Who can come?

Each hostess decides who her group is for: all adult women, moms with children in tow, single women, moms and their teen girls, and so on. Her map pin tells you. If a meetup is not the right fit for you, another one may start another meetup nearby — or you could host one yourself.

Please make sure you join us in these core beliefs before attending:

  1. Torah is for Christians today.
  2. Yeshua is Messiah and our source of salvation.
  3. Agree to not promote polygamy, New Age practices, or denying Yeshua as divine.

Make the hostess's job easy. Be lovely and easy to get along with. Don't come with an agenda to teach, take over, change her meetup/group or change anyone's beliefs. Come to make friends and encourage one another.

A hostess has the right and responsibility to tell you if her meetup is not a good fit for you and that you may not come again.

How do I get in touch with a hostess?

Directly. Click her pin on the map and use the email address or phone number she chose to share. Introduce yourself and she will tell you where and when her group meets. Nothing goes through me, and exact addresses are never posted on this website.

Where do meetups happen, and how often?

Wherever and whenever the hostess chooses — a coffee shop, a library meeting room, a park pavilion, and so on. Some groups meet monthly, some every few months. Ask the hostess; it may change with the seasons of her life.

Does it cost anything?

No. There is no fee to attend or to host. If a group meets at a coffee shop or restaurant, plan on buying your own food or coffee, or just sit and enjoy the company. If a group decides to do an outing that costs money each woman must pay her own way and you'll have the option to decide if you want to attend or not. Do not ask the hostess or other attendees to pay for your food, coffee or outing fees. They are not expected to pay anything.

What if my beliefs differ a little from the other ladies?

They probably will in some small way — that is normal in our community. Come to make friends, not to debate. We avoid strife and arguing, and we keep the main things the main things: love for Yeshua and obedience to the whole Bible.

There is no meetup near me. Now what?

Two options. Sign up to be notified and I will email you the moment a group starts in your state or country. Or, if you are willing, become a hostess — every single meetup on the map started with one woman saying yes.

Can there be more than one group in my area?

Yes! Different hostesses, different days, different kinds of groups. The more the merrier.

Is this for men too?

Meetups are for women. My prayer is that as Sisters become close friends, whole families will connect and maybe even new home fellowships will grow out of those friendships someday. But step one is simply helping the women find each other.

Be a Meetup Hostess

Will you please be a hostess?

A Torah Sisters Meetup hostess is not a pastor, a teacher, or an event planner. She is a woman who says, “Come sit with me,” and then picks a place and a time. If you have ever wished there were likeminded women nearby, you may be the one who gathers them. Please consider taking on this important ministry.

Your freedom

You decide everything

  • Where: a coffee shop, a library room, a park — anywhere you like.
  • When and how often: you decide: it could be once a month on a Tuesday afternoon, every three months on a Friday morning, whatever fits your life.
  • Who: it can be for adult women and no kids allowed, or you can welcome kids somehow, or it can be just for single women, or maybe moms and teen girls — you decide who and you set the tone.

Your support

What I do for you

  • Periodic emails to encourage you in your new hostess ministry. No program to follow — you decide how your meetup goes.
  • A pin on the map so Sisters near you can find your group.
  • A welcome email with next steps.
  • A powerful communication tool so you can text ladies to remind them of your next meetup. It will help protect  privacy.

Your part

What I ask of you

  • Be reachable. Reply to the ladies who contact you and help them get plugged in.
  • Meet somewhat regularly — on whatever schedule you chose.
  • Keep it casual and kind. Facilitate, don’t preach; welcome, don’t debate.
  • Tell me if life changes and you need to pause or close your group, so I can update the map.

Before you sign up

Please read the Hostess Handbook first.

It is short, it is in my own words, and it tells you exactly what I will do for you and what I ask of you. If it still sounds like you, come back and fill out the form below.

How it works

1

Fill out the form

Your name, city, and how ladies can reach you. Two minutes, tops.

2

I say hello

I look over your form and approve your meetup. You will get a welcome email from me with next steps.

3

Your pin goes live

Your group appears on the map, and Sisters in your state get an email that a new meetup has started.

4

Ladies reach out

They contact you directly. You tell them where and when.

Part one

This will go on your public listing

Everything in this part appears on your map pin so Sisters near you can find you and say hello.

You are the main contact for your meetup, so this is the name ladies will see.

How can ladies reach you? (email, phone, or both)

Fill in whichever you are comfortable sharing. This is how Sisters will contact you, and it will be shown on your map pin.

Your pin sits at the center of town — never at your home.
Some examples: all adult women · women with children · single women · moms and teen girls. Leave it blank if you are still deciding — you can tell ladies as they reach out.
Be welcoming — share your vision and what you expect it to be like. This goes on your pin and may help a Sister know you are a great fit for her. For example: “Hi! I’m Jen and I invite adult women to join me at a coffee shop (I’ll tell you where later) the first Tuesday of each month for conversation. No kids, though, so get a babysitter — there just won’t be room at this place for children. Please join us if you can! I think we’ll share our coming-to-Torah stories, maybe prayer requests sometimes, or just sit and talk. I look forward to meeting you.”
If your meetup has its own Facebook group, WhatsApp group or similar, ladies get a “Join her group” button on your pin. You can add this later, too.

Part two

For Amy’s use only

Help Amy get to know you a little. Nothing in this part is shown publicly.

This is where your welcome email and my encouragement emails will go.
Just for Amy, in case she needs to reach you quickly.
One is plenty, a few is even better. This just helps Amy get to know you — it is never shown publicly.

Part three

Hostess Agreement

Please read this before you submit. It is also in the Hostess Handbook.

Torah Sisters Meetups are independent gatherings hosted by volunteers. Torah Sisters LLC provides the name and the map listing, but it does not organize, supervise, insure or control your meetup, and it is not responsible for what happens there.

By hosting, you agree that you are acting on your own behalf and not as an employee, agent or representative of Torah Sisters LLC; that you are responsible for choosing a safe location and for the conduct of your gathering; that you will not collect money, open accounts or enter agreements in the Torah Sisters name; and that you release Torah Sisters LLC and its owners from any claim, loss, injury or damage connected with your meetup. Torah Sisters LLC may remove a listing or withdraw permission to use its name at any time.

Still deciding? That is fine. Read the FAQ above, pray about it, and come back when you are ready. The door will still be here.
